• $950.00 Perpetual Membership - one time for life payment
• Upon death, members (both levels) are enrolled for and receive benefits of Society ad perpetuam. 
• Members join (under no pain of sin) in the  prayers for the Poor Souls: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be & Eternal Rest Grant Prayer. 
• Members should  form habits of praying for the dead.  They are encouraged to  visit cemeteries, attend funeral Masses, help bury the dead, have Masses said for the poor souls in their respective parishes, pray the Office of the Dead, Say St. Gertrude prayer, etc.

St Gertrude Prayer:

Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with all the Masses said
throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
and within my own family. Amen.

St. Gertrude was a 13th C Benedictine Nun and Mystic. In a vision, Our Lord revealed to her that 1000 souls were released from Purgatory every time this prayer was recited.

• The Syracuse Diocesan Purgatorian Society at St. Mary's Parish & Shrine  is a pious association of faithful Catholics whose members are united by prayer and compassion for the suffering souls in Purgatory.

• Members of the Society enroll their deceased relatives and friends in the Society and they are remembered and prayed for at every Mass of the Society.

• Upon death, members are then themselves enrolled in the Society, and their soul benefits from the prayers and Masses offered by the Society. 

• The Society offers 13 Masses a year for the Souls enrolled in the Society (see schedule for next Requiem Mass).

• Members join (under no pain of sin) in the  prayers for the Poor Souls: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be & Eternal Rest Prayer.

• Members foster devotion for the Poor Souls in Purgatory by offering prayers and the society Masses, as well as by visiting cemeteries and encouraging others to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. 

• Members can add additional names during the year (total of 50 names per member with deceased married couples counting as "one" member) through the Member's page: Here

• Full Membership to the Society  (13 Masses and 13 Rosaries in the year 2024-2025, additional names enrolled throughout the year,  and upon death the member is enrolled and receives the benefits of the Society). Full membership is paid yearly -  $70.00

• Perpetual Membership of the Society (13 Masses and 13 Rosaries per year for the rest of your life (ad perpetuam), names added every year and throughout the year, and upon their death the member is enrolled in the Society and their soul receives the benefits of the Society). Perpetual Membership is a one-time payment  - $950.00

Please use the above form to register. Simply choose the "check in mail" option and "pay later" option to enroll. Please email the names of the deceased family and friends that you would like remembered in the Masses and prayers to kpauldine@syrdio.org.  Please write Purgatorian Society in the email subject area.   If you desire to submit by mail only, please submit a typed document with all names or please clearly PRINT all the names of the of the deceased family and friends you want remembered by the Society (up to 50 names per member).
